Dede Wilsey Philanthropist

While fundraising for the San Francisco Opera, Dede Wilsey met Al Wilsey, whose generosity served as a great inspiration for her. Al Wilsey, himself was a great philanthropist and a famous socialite whose fortune came from dairy products and real estate.  When Dede Wilsey got married to Al Wilsey, they were both involved in a number of philanthropic projects, which created friendly competitions between them. They were always competing to find donors for various charities and fundraisers. Thus, she used the social clout of her husband and of herself as a means to do noble things.

Earlier in 1965, Dede Wilsey had married the art collector and the shipping magnate John Traina. Then, in 1980 she got married to the multi millionaire Al Wilsey, who had recently divorced his third wife. Together the couple were a fixture on the social axes of the Nape Valley and San Francisco. In the cultural and the artistic circles of the famous city, Dede Wilsey has remained a very prominent figure throughout her life. She gained her strong reputation for spearheading the rebuilding of the de Young Museum in the Golden Gate Park in addition to establishing a number of trusts for various organizations like the San Francisco Ballet and the San Francisco Opera.
