Mesothelioma is a special type cancer that affects the mesothelium in the body. Generally people who have exposure to asbestos fro many are affected by Mesothelioma. It normally affects middle aged and older aged men. But there are cases where there is no history of asbestos exposure had developed this type of cancer. There are chances for younger patients to get affected by this. Mesothelioma prognosis is often considered as a difficult task as the symptoms are similar with other types of lung infection. The main cause for mesothelioma is long time exposure to asbestos. Pleural mesothelioma can be of two stages, the first stage being the membrane surface getting affected by cancer cells and secondary stage is if it spreads to other parts such as lungs, chest wall, lymph nodes, and abdominal organs.
